Saint Simon’un anlatımına göre, sarayın ve kentin soylu kadınları Osmanlı elçisini ziyaret etmeyi bir alışkanlık haline getirmişlerdir. Çelebi Mehmed, kendisini görmeye gelen bu hanımlara çoğu zaman kahve ve reçel ikram ederek onlara bir ziyafet sunmuştur. İki kültür arasındaki etkileşimi bu zarif sofralarla perçinlemiştir.
